How do I message people on the new facebook profile?

A lot of my friends, and I, have changed to the new profile on facebook. I noticed only a few of them have a button for messaging. I COULD go on my inbox and click "new message" but i dont want to have to keep resorting to that when i'm on their profile already. does anyone know why it's like this or how i can change it?

If you are on their profile page, underneath their photo there is usually an option that says "Send __Joe____ a message".

obviously, the two idiots before me haven't seen the new facebook profile. there's ISN'T an eff'n link right under the picture anymore to msg people on their profiles. so stfu. i've been trying to figure the same damn thing. even the fb help page isn't any help. i hope they put the msg button back on profiles soon.

All you have to do is go up to your missages button on the top left and click it....when your messages come down on the top right of that box it will say send a new message and then you can type whosever name in there!

click messages (far left), click new message (far right), type name.

Top Right hand corner of THEIR profile. It says "Send message".
It's beside poke.

to the person above me, it does not!? it just says poke and chat not message button. there really is no need to get rude. I think facebook have just made a mistake and will fix it soon, but untill then the only way is to do a new message and type their name.

Well in the upper left corner there is a envelope where your messages are. Click that and in the right top of the box it says "Send Message".

You can also go to the person page and on the left click any of the options "wall", "info" etc. And once you do that in the right upper corner "Send Message" should appear.

So there are two ways to send messages to people.
