Why do people join so many facebook groups?

Is it that they like to feel similar to other people?
Is it that you find comfort in knowing that other people like the same things you like,experience the same things you experience or find the same things funny that you do?
Is there comfort in conformity and the mutually mundane?

Probably to look important and brag about it, Only they would know.

Its probably to try and look interesting and maybe compete like when people have 20,000 friends. Its a bit sad when you join a group just for the sake of trying to conform or be part of the herd.
