Can someone explain the hashtag thing in Twitter please?

I don't really understand it. I'd like to read tweets about the new system update on my mobile (HTC Desire HD) so what would i put? Also, how do i get the hash symbol on my macbook? Thanks!

Hashtags are used to mark keywords in tweets. So, if I was tweeting about a macbook I could use the hashtag #macbook as a way of categorising the tweet.

If I was reading another person's tweet and clicked #macbook I'll get a list of tweets in that category.

I don't know the specific tags to look for system updates for your mobile. I'd try searching twitter with your mobile name and "system update"
