Can facebook apps be a spam database generators stealing friend's emails?

I'm hypothesizin' whether certain facebook apps can steal contact info's such as email addresses from friends for later spam avail databases... Or are facebook apps only limited to accessing only to certain data info's which would perhaps prevent malbot's reading email data compartment?

Spam can come from eveywhere, even on facebook. As long as you have virus protection, you should be ok.
