How many facebook friends am I supposed to have?

People on facebook seem to have millions of friends on facebook well over 100 and I used to have 100 but I figured its stupid because I don't know/like half of the people I had on there so I deleted about 70. Do normal people really have 100's of friends or am I the only one with 30?

You can have up to five thousand friends but who cares,you should care about the quality not quantity of friends.

some people like having hundreds coz it makes them look populour...but i think you should only have your proper friends on there, why would you want to be telling people you hardly know what you got planned, or where your going on holiday...

not to mention random people looking through all your family photos and things like that.

I think most people have two profiles. One that they have all their close fiends on, and another that they have to broadcast shouts to (larger audience) say for marketing or just for giggles or if they have a band or something then it is usefull to have many friends/fans.

yes, you can have upto 5000 normally I know but not confirm.I have 500+ friends and day by day my number of friends is increasing

Mate, First of all, There's no such thing as a "Normal" Person
No one is stock standard.

If you feel having 100's of freinds on facebook is stupid, Because you don't know them, Then that's ok. that' s your opinion and , therefore don't accept freind request's from people you don't know.
You can also delete freinds in your account settings.

But just so you understand how facebook works. here;s a brief explanation
Let's say you have 10 freinds on your account, and i have 100 on my account,
1 of my freinds might know one of your freinds, and they may suggest to me that i might like to be freinds with your freind (or even yourself for that matter) so i get a freind request,
The moment i accept that request, i now have access to that freind of yours and all of their freinds, including you. if you did it and accept a request, You would then have a total of 110 freinds. haha
See why you have so many freinds..
Facebook is designed to bring people together and to interact according to their likes and dislikes, The basic concept is, that people with common interest's have a common subject to talk about. That's it,
Now some people don't mind talking and meeting absolute strangers. You sound like the sort of person that doesn't take the word "Freind" lightly.
Tha'ts why you only have a few freinds, and you only want a few, and you think having a lot is stupid.
I beleive that the freinds you have a real and true freinds, Not just facebook freinds, and that's cool,
So to answer your question. Just Setup your privacy settings in the facebook account settings section, and only choose to interact with your frieinds. and you'll be right.
