What is the significance or the people on the left hand side of your facebook profile?
I have been wondering lately how they determine who to put on the list of friends on the left hand side of your facebook profile, does anyone know?

Do you mean above the chat section?? If so, this is the right side of Facebook as there are not parts with mentions of friends on the left side.

They are the friends which you interact with most in terms of talking, commenting and liking. They appear even if the are online or offline.
