Adverts randomly playing in the background and computer become really slow...?
First of all, I have a Norton anti-virus system.

Okay, so a couple of weeks ago these adverts started randomly playing in the background when my computer was on. Each time it was from a website, but the website varied from youtube to blogger to facebook. Also, on so many websites, these adverts appear, and in the right hand corner below the advert it says 'ads not by this site'. Also, since around that time, my relatively new computer (of less than 6 months) has become really slow, when up until this point it was really fast. I don't think other applications (as in not the internet) are slow; it may just be the internet that slow.

But what's going on? And how can I fix it?

Thanks,
Me eM

First of all Norton is famous for slowing down the the computer
Second of all You should Download Malwarebyte to scan for malware, spyware, adware and /or viruses
Third of all your computer is probably slow because the data on the hard disk is fragmented(I dont care if your computer is empty its still has files, and imagine a part of one file split in over 100 parts, then imagine all the rest of the fragmented files) you should defragment your hard disk

This has proven successful with others here complaing of the same problem.

Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.

Now open your browser and download TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It's tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits.

Regardless of the results, download and run Dr. Web CureIt! (still in Safe Mode):

Now download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan:

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and Dr. Web CureIt!, as updated versions are often made available. MBAM can be easily uninstalled, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

Hope this helps.

Those ads are being inserted by whats known as "adware", see here for more info: https://www.facebook.com/help/adware

BTW a great way to remove the normal facebook ads on facebook is to install the FB Purity browser extension, its 100% safe & has lots of features for keeping your facebook clean: http://fbpurity.com
