There is no message or add button on this persons facebook profile?

What does it mean when someones facebook profile doesn't have the add friend or message button? How are people supposed to contact them? Is there any way?

They chose not to be contacted. It is all in the privacy settings. But if you know them, contact a mutual friend to pass the message along so they can add/contact you if they choose to.

EDIT Then I guess you are out of luck, unless you actually know them.
