How do I get more followers on twitter? ?

I've had twitter since September but only started using it recently. I have 80 followers but I want more. I have friends that joined after me and have 500 followers. I do follow back and I do hash tags to get followed but I never seem to gain much!

You have to:
1. Post interesting content every day
2. Follow trends properly
3. Link your networking accounts
4. Find your niche
