Twitter follower help?!?

I have had twitter for a while now, since April.
I tweet a lot and follow a load of people but I only have 141 followers. A girl in my class has had twitter for less than a month and she already has more followers than me!
How can I get more?!

follow random people and they might follow back. when they do unfollow them and they think your still following em

It depends what you tweet. If it's like "cleaning my room" or something like that, you might not get a lot. But if you want more followers, follow me at @xSweetTweets and I can try to help you get more. I have over 5,000 followers. (quote account)

Well, that's easy. What's your purpose registering a twitter account?
To show off your followers? For social networking?

But i got some tips 4 u:
1. More active at twitter, mention every people, even u dont know.
2. Advertise your twitter everywhere. At facebook, forum, maillist, site, etc.
3. Tell your friend to advertise your acc, every he make a tweet. Atleast ask him/her to mention you.
