Problems with Facebook? Privacy Settings?

Every since the last update of facebook the whole world can see my facebook and everything is public! When ever I go to privacy settings and click the friends button for default privacy it won't work. I have tried everything to get my facebook public to only my friends but nothing seems to be working. help?? I am not the only one who is having this problem..

for this, you must go into your privacy settings
after that under the heading "control privacy when you post" theres a link that says "editing your profile"
click onto that, after that, change all your privacy settings to only "friends"

eg. click on friends and family, and then there is this symbol and change it to friends
