how are the 10 friends displayed on the left side of facebook chosen?

okay right under your profile picture, where it says "Friends" there are like 10 icons of your friends & i want to know how Facebook chooses them. I feel like it can't be who I interact with the most on there, because somebody I just recently became Facebook friends ended up on there. I also don't think it can be who's profile I visit the most because some of them are my pretty good friends, but I rarely go to their Faceboook Does anybody know how it decides?

It choose randomly. If you hit refresh it changes, at least for me.

I've always wondered the same thing. I think it's by who views your profile the most or something. I know when I go on to other profiles usually the people they talk to the most or there best friends are on the list.(:
