How does Facebook determine which Friends appear on your Facebook Profile sidebar?

It's chosen randomly.

There is a persistent myth that it has something to do with who has viewed your profile recently, or who views it most often, etc. None of these things are true, however. It is completely random.

i think its random, but mine always shows people that I have been on their profile recently.
