Do you feel the privacy of internet users is being abused?
so essentially, do you feel/think that the privacy of people which use sites like google plus or Facebook is being being used in a way which is immoral or unfair without the users consent

Without the slightest doubt. Spam/phishing/hacking affects almost all. Billions are made from it worldwide. Close one loophole, and two more are opened up.

Sometimes when you are on some sites they already know your name and E mail. I know we have Auto complete viewing pages offline, internet cache, but things seem to have changed of late.

For people who don't know Google has taken over face book and you tube. If you use Google chrome it almost feels your being "steered" towards certain sights as if there search engine is working in the background albeit more subtly.

This might sound strange coming from an Engineer with an MCSA A+ etc but i feel the Internet is becoming more like television we are slowly having our choices taken away. And its getting hard to say for sure what is a virus and what is OK. Well we all know Viruses are Bad news’s one that destroyed the ntldr file so you had to reinstall windows.

That’s not what In, talking about yesterday I downloaded a program to convert Wav into mp3 and my AV pooped up a warning about win32 toolbar, a crappy thing that slows your browser and tells the world you are a computer idiot.

But it was my AV that was annoying me so was it not really doing the same as the spy ware The whole computer industry is self serving. Probably the only reason we still have PCs is because they can still charge $500 for a graphics card do you ever hear of Mac owners having to replace the graphics card?

Once you loose freedom you can never get it back; But its taken from us in such a subtle and slow way people do not notice.

Take W7 a good OS but, (and this it really to the techy people or anyone really) does it not seem a bit “dumb ed down” I mean one example the address bar at the top its annoying not seeing the unc path EG C:Windows\system 32.\

My new computer there seem to be some NTFS permissions (not set by me I have only had it a few days) but its eerie the computer telling you about the dangers of going into the Root C: when you have been in the Trade for so long..

Maybe judgment day is not too far off after all.

Apologies for going off Topic

Google is a monster totally out of control and ir's about time ir was brought to heel like the rabid dog that it is. Better still, put it down like one!

One reason why I would never use or any of it's products.

It's had several run ins with the Courts including the EU over Privacy and tracking issues.

It was recently fined $200 million for ignoring Court Rulings.

Here is some examples of what the bastards at Google are up to with your information.

@Stephen Google owns YT not FB.

Although it wouldn't surprise me if it made a bid for it seeing that in the last 3 months FB has lost over $50 billion off of it's share value. Shares now are worth less than ½ half their launch value.

It's so good that one major investor dumped 20 million shares worth $1 billion in 3 weeks!

Shamefully yes. The thing is 95% of the population don't want their details tracked etc. We dont need ads thrown down our throat - when I want a TV - i enjoy the research, not the best offer now rammed in my face - which may not be the best anyway.

DNT+ is a great firefox plug in that blocks all these tracing cookies and shows you who is trying to trace you.

Collusion is another plug in that maps out which sites tell other sites information about you - be warned, this can be worrying.
