How do I make my 'Friends' provate on my facebook profile?

Up in the top right hand corner you will see Home with an arrow beside it.

Click on that and select Privacy. Then change the button setting to Custom.

Then under the various sub categories change the settings to whatever you want.

To make your friends list private to to friends page click on edit and on the lock icon, select friends, only me as per your preference and limit the visibility setting.
