Don't dye your hair it will damage the root. Or rather if you use foil and avoid the root it will be less damaging. it would probably look ok.

Black hair won't suit your skin tone and it is very difficult to remove from the hair. Bleaching it out can ruin the hair. Most guys who want a change just get a somewhat different haircut. A high school aged dying his hair black is going to attract a lot of negative attention.
