What's a good way to get twitter followers?

My company http://www.twitter.com/netnewz but we don't really have a lot of followers haha. Without just randomly adding people and asking them to follow you, what are some ways to gain twitter followers.

On all or most of the main pages of your website, post "We now have a Twitter account! Be our follower to get extra news posted exclusively on Twitter!"

I doubt you'll find many people on Twitter itself that are interested in netnewz.tv. The idea is to find people OUTSIDE of Twitter that are interested in your website, and get them to sign on and become your follower to get the extra content.

I use TweetLater.com to get a daily email based on what people in my field are chatting about and then I manually follow and interact with the ones I want to engage with.

Next.. list yourself and your business profile in all of the Twitter Directories - let people find you!

- Add the Twitter URL to your email signature.
- Make sure your Twitter profile looks professional and has your 'real' photo or an avatar that looks like you.
- Make sure you engage with your followers.
- Update all your Social Profiles with your Twitter URL
- Make sure that your blog/website has a link to your Twitter URL
- Check out your competition - who are they following ?
- Follow people based on keywords they use that are related to your business using Twitter Search or Twollow.com

Basically.. unless you follow these steps, people might just look at your profile and not bother following you.. these are the basic steps to take to ensure that you look interesting enough to follow
