Why do I need to be FaceBook friends with people I don't know well enough to care about?

I don't understand why everyone wants to be friends with more people than they will ever keep track of, or why it's offensive to take someone off my friends if I will never see them again. I really don't care know the details of the lives of people I've talked to one time or less. Is this wrong? Because I really don't care to know or share information with people I barely know.

Facebook is about connecting. Being friends on fb with someone you don't really know will help you know them better. Being friends with a lot of
People tells you what's going on. I have over 700 friendss on Facebook, and some of them I've only talked to a couple of times or never talked to, but being friends with them lets me know what's going with everyone's lives and it let's me be able to communicate with them.

I know why people get a bunch of friends they dont know,..cause they think that itll make rthem look cooler and/or popular looking (just a guess)?...

I completely agree with you. Facebook is to keep in touch with friends but if we don't actually talk to them then why have them as a friend. I usually don't add anyone I don't know and if its someone that I've only seen but never talked to they get denied. U sometimes go through my list of friends and if I notice someone who I no longer talk to I delete them. So really your doing nothing wrong. No worries!

Who CARES if people you barely know and don't care about are offended? Why does it bother you that someone is offended if you unfriend them? You didn't want to be friends with them, right? So they're offended. Big deal.

So the answer to your question is: You DON'T need to be Facebook friends with people you don't know well enough to care about. Unfriend anyone you don't care about and forget it. Why would it matter?

Well the reason people friend more people than they will ever talk to is because they want to brag that they have about 1000 friends when they really don't know 3/4 of the people on there list but if you dont know the people why do you care what they think about you takeing them off your friends list
