Why is facebook suggesting friends to me even though we have no mutual friends?

Facebook keeps suggesting random people to me... and we have no mutual friends?

sometimes it suggests. but most of the time, it suggests only to mutual friends.

Facebook never focused on this issue. They want you to add as many people as you do. For this, they compare your data with other profiles and if they find a match they'll suggest this.

Normally someone can select one of his/her friend to show others as suggested friend but apart from this facebook do it on their own.

I somehow think Facebook needs to work on this feature. I always thought a mutual friend was someone two people both knew but the mutual friend didn't realise they knew each other (if you see what I mean).

I don't get complete random people, the 'mutual' friends I am suggested are all friends with other friends of mine. However, I have no idea who they are, they are not on my friends list. I can see the point if another friend had the same friends on thier list as I had, but then there would be no point in this feature! Crazy!
