i only have 2 follows (i just started using it again after like 7 months) Any tips on how to get more followers??

If you want real followers that are interested in what you say. Then don't do a follow for a follow.

Here is how I do it and its a slow process, but then in the end you get people who actually are interested in what your saying.

For example I have a twitter account called Iredbox and I tweet exclusively Redbox movie rental promo codes and tips for the Redbox kiosks. I started with 1 follower on 2010-09-20 14:00:48 (5 months, 5 days)

Now I have 473 followers, and only following 7 people, I tell ya I have worked hard to get those followers, and they are all followers that really want to follow me and get free movies from Redbox. yes probably some of them are bots or even dead accounts. But I built up these followers 1 by 1.

Here are the tips

Tweet about something specific, narrow it down.

Be personal, and be yourself

Talk to people, and especially talk to your followers and get to know them, ask them questions engage them! Let them know your not a bot. People love it when its an acutal person

Have a nice clean, viewable facial image as your icon

Promote yourself on youtube (I did a youtube vid on "How to get free redbox codes" Keep the title short, video under 30 secs and lots of useful tags.

Search twitter. I constantly read probably more then 1,000 tweets a month and I have like 20 saved searches. What i search for is people using redbox for the first time, or people who having problems with redbox kiosks, and I certainly search for Redbox codes

Find a way to get people know that you exist. only way to do that is to engage people

Maybe put up a short facebook ad? its $1 a day.

Do you have a successful blog already? Tell your blog followers to follow you on twitter ( I dont)

Completely fill out your profile

Create a nice custom twitter background.

Give away free stuff ( I give away free redbox codes and do redbox code giveaways)

Follow people who have similar interests. I follow redbox, insideredbox, DVDinsidexpress, and that. I finally got Redbox the company to follow me (That was an insanely hard one to get!!! for a company to follow you)

Try to have them follow you, but when you follow them introduce yourself and what you do.

I do also ask people to follow me but I do answer their problem first then say follow me ex:

Call @redbox at x-xxx-xxx-xxxx and tell them about the unplayable dvd. Follow me for redbox codes.



keep thinking of things to add. RT people. Me I like the old RT style where it does RT @blablah this redbox code works.

This way you give credit to the original person that said it (they love it) and also it lets that person know that your there.

Dont be to spammy, don't tweet just for the heck of tweeting, and don't tweet to much in one day. I unfollow people who excessively tweet.
