What happens if I click on a suspicious ad not by the website, and how can I get rid of it?
It seems to only be on my computer. I have anti-virus and it's done recent updates. I'm even using a premium free trial version! The ads aren't harming anything, they're just everywhere! Facebook, Pandora, Twitter! And not the side ones the website sponsors. It says "ads not by this site" I got a watermelon dancing across the top telling me to shoot it to when an i-phone, click to watch video of slutty girl, how to look 20 at age 50, etc.
I'm so annoyed by them, I just wanna click them and see what it does so I can stop being paranoid of accidentally doing so. But what happens if I click on them? Help?

Are you sure the adverts aren't from the website itself? Have you compared your view from the view of another computer?

You may either have some software that has installed adware onto your computer (scan your entire computer using MalwareBytes -- free) or you may have an extension that has enabled marketing/advertisement (disable your extensions or start your browser in safe mode).

Get Adblock Plus. By default, it blocks pretty much every ad and I sometimes forget what website ads look like lol. You can customize it to block other objects (embedded Youtube for example) and add sites to a whitelist and all that good stuff.

For Firefox:

For Chrome:

You have tracer adware. Get Adblock+ and they'll be useless (and you will never see ads), and run scans with your antivirus.
Chances on the ads are OKAY, but they run off of the programs installed to the computer. It got in by you simply installing too much crap without controlling the "free offers".

Those ads are being inserted by a type of malware called Adware, you should go through your browser extensions and toolbars and remove the ones you dont trust, if that doesnt fix it, run an antimalware scanner such as Malwarebytes Antimalware or Superantispyware, and that should get rid of it.

Once youve got rid of the adware,a great way to remove facebook's own annoying and intrusive ads is to install the highly rated and free FB Purity browser extension, it lets you filter out the junk you dont want to see on Facebook:
