What is the best way to get a facebook group going?

I tried to start a nascar group last year (along with acouple others), and non of them I could really get enough ppl in to start anything. Any idea on how I can get it going? I have already posted it in the other nascar groups I am in. Thanks!

1. Get all your friends to join it
2. Request that they tell all their friends to join it
3. Post on the main page of your group requesting everyone to invite their friends that enjoy Nascar

Notes:
*For the group to succeed it must have something the other groups don't have, so its not "just another stupid group"
*The group must be something you know alot of people will enjoy
*The group may not succeed if there are more groups that are virtually the same as yours.
