If I remove a friend from my Facebook friends list, will they know?

I'm new to facebook. If I am viewing my list of friends, and click on the 'x' in the top right corner, does that remove them from my friend list, and will that be posted on my or their wall?

last i saw, it doesn't tell them you removed them, but you will no longer show up on their list as a friend either.

Hi elizabeth,

yes, they will know it cause they will no longer have you in their friends list .... so if they go to sleep counting for instance 49 friends and next morning they check their list and see 48 they will notice you are no longer in there so they will know you ve removed them (although there s no notification from facebook tellin them so)

and yes clicking on the "x" helps you to delete them

But anyway if someday you want to add them again you can do it once more.

Yes that will remove them from your list, and they won't get a notification. BUT if they happen to be looking for you in their friends list and they don't find you, they will know.
