How do Internet Sites Make Money from ads?
I know they get paid per click but how much money do they really make? I am not talking about big sites like yahoo and facebook, but smaller web sites for blogging, something like idrink.com, or even porn websites. Is there a lot of money to be made from creating a website with a useful/creative purpose?

It depends on the total number of hits a website has as well...like if a website only gets 500 hits a day they wouldnt charge very much for advertisment on their site...Myspace for example because it gets 5 billion hits a day can charge alot for advertisement. You can put an add on yahoo or Google for 99.95 a month with no charge per click or anything like that.

If you have your own website, you can make money with the ads that you are talking about, but you can also sell banner ad space, or do affiliate sales. How much money you can make depends on a lot of things. How helpful, fun, interesting, etc. is your website? Will people visit? Come back for repeat visits? You also have to choose the right ads to display.
As the owner of an online community shopping mall site, I really HATE seeing a website that just has a bunch of affilate links calling themselves a mall. That is not a mall. That is a bunch of links to other shopping sites. Boring! People are not going to spend time at a site like that. You have to get their attention, and keep it. |
