Do facebook friends count as real friends?
After years of resistance, I fanally have a facebook account and I have 25 friends in 2 weeks. It is amazing of all the aquaintances one has. Anyhow, there are three friends through other contacts. Do these people count as friends?

They're "cyber friends" therefore NOT real friends.

If you consider them your friends than they are your friends...ask YOURSELF what a friend is, not yahoo answers, and then decide if they fall under that category.

Reminds me of the 2 guys at this funeral. One says to the other, "He had 1000 facebook friends. I thought there'd be a bigger crowd...."

oh calm down,. the average person has 400 friends or more. and most likeley you are going to talk to about 20% of those friends. dont add people you have never met or seen in your life but just because you have them on facebook doesnt mean you are friends. just aquaintances. adding them doesnt change anything unless you actually talk to them in real life..

Friend: one attached to another by affection or esteem.
Facebook doesn't depict whether or not a person is a real friend. Most people accept friend requests from anyone just to build their "friend" count; however, that doesn't mean that a particular person despises you, either. Just see if he/she fits the definition. |
