Help with removing the ad sidebar on Facebook?

So my friend has a small Netbook computer and whenever he tries playing one of the games on Facebook the ad sidebar blocks part of the screen and it gets pretty annoying...
I was wondering if there was any way to remove the sidebar so he can see his full screen?

i had this problem - turned out the game was just "zoomed in" - and a simple Control-0 (zero) while the game was open fixed it
