Should i friend request this guy on facebook?

this guy who used to be in my class seemed really nice and quiet. He seemed alot like me but i was too intimidated to say anything. He likes the same music has the same style and i think we would really get along. The thing is i never see him anymore and i would always just admire him from afar...i dont think he ever even noticed me :/. I found him on facebook. Would it be creepy to add him? Is there any other way?
