What should I do about my parents?
I'm 16 years old and I'm a sophomore in high school. Ever since I was young my parents have always compared me to my sister who's 4 years older than me. My dad spoiled her rotten and doesn't show anywhere near the same compassion for me. He acts like I'm just some kid who is a waste of his time. When my sister was 13 he got her a cellphone in the 8th grade. Here I am, in my 10th grade Year and im 16 years old without a phone. I can't fucking connect to my friends other than Facebook or twitter...oh wait they took my laptop away because I got a b- in a class. I work so hard in class I even got straight A's this quarter and I asked my dad about me maybe getting a phone. When he heard me talk about it he said "maybe when you become more mature" like Wtf money's not a problem cuz were upper middle class and he's just being a fucking douche who only cares about his daughter. My moms even admitted to saying that they spoiled her.

But they're "trying to not make the same mistake" by taking my stuff away and refusing to get a 16 year old a phone. I literally feel awkward when im with friends and they're all testing and i can't do shit other than stand there awkwardly

Suck it up, Buttercup. You obviously have a computer and Internet access to be a completely disrespectful little girl, just from this posting alone you don't deserve anything.
Get better grades, or get a damn job and pay for your own cell phone, calling plan, laptop and wireless.
Just because you feel entitled doesn't mean you are entitled.

But Sweet Pa2nya is wrong-- in their home, your parents can take anything they want from you, at 16 you have no rights.

Dear John C, You're 16 go get a job & buy anything you want then they can't take it away & you'll feel a lot better about owning these things & when you do not get the grades your parents would like to see you just have to know in your own heart you did your best never compare your life to anyone else as this is your life to live navigate it the best you can with little or no help from the folks this will make you a man that they will be proud of if not you know you did it your way and the things you have belong to you! Good luck John it is all a part of life to grow up and be proud of yourself & try to find a job that is in an area you hope your future to grow .
