but you can always just delete the comments - it's not like facebook tells them that you deleted it

You cant approve or reject them necessarily, but if they comment something that you don't like then you can delete it. If they are really annoying and make a big deal that you deleted their comment then you may want to message them explaining why you deleted their comment. If all that fails i would recommend that you de-friend them or change your privacy settings so that they cant see future pictures or status updates.
