how do i get a photo above my facebook profile?

My Facebook profile is like not updated or something. Everyone else has a photo across the top of there profile and I don't even have the option to do that so...

It's called Facebook Timeline. Its the new profile layout that Facebook is using.

To get this
Log into your facebook.
Go to: https://www.facebook.com/about/timeline
At the bottom right of the screen, click the green button that says "Get Timeline"

The picture above your profile is called Cover photo but you can use that only in Facebook feature named TIMELINE.
First log in your facebook account. Then activate TIMELINE by going on the link given below:
http://www.facebook.com/TimelineActivation
Then add a cover either from existing uploaded pics or from your computer.
And publish your profile so others will be able to see your new look profile.
