How to change facebook privacy settings?

Today I recieved an inbox regarding one of my status' but it should not have been able to be viewed unless that person was a friend.
I checked the settings on my page (on the status) and its set to 'Friend of a friend' even though on my actual privacy settings its set to 'Friends only' for everything other than inbox and friend requests.

I was wandering why the status' are being shown to 'friends of friends' when its meant to be set to 'Friends only'

Can anyone help me to get this changed as i don't want other people seeing my posts?

I think you should care about your privacy settings which could be found in the top right corner of the page when you click on account..
