When is okay to announce you are having a baby?
Under normal circumstances I would wait til like 12 weeks. The problem is my mother-in-law has already told her entire side of the family and made it public on her facebook page. I am worried that my friends and family will find out on accident and it will hurt their feelings. I am only 7 weeks. I am debating about posting about it on facebook just to safe some hurt feelings.

this should be an exciting experience and you should tell everyone you feel needs to know first like family and very close friends then post it on fb if you feel other people should know ......

Well, you can wait until 12 weeks to make it public, there's nothing wrong with that. You can post your US pic on FB and make a fun comment such as "In case you didn't know already, we are expecting!" Anyone who gets upset with you should understand the 12 week green light. If they seem upset just explain that 12 weeks is considered the safe zone and some people went ahead and made their own announcements without your permission. Nobody will hold it against you.

I'd tell you MIL that you understand she's excited but its not her news to post on fb! That's extremely rude of her to do that. It's your private information. Ask herto remove the information immediately if you don't want it on there

Then tell your immediate family and friends if you want them to know and then only put on fb when you're happy to
