i have some girls i like at school, i'm too afraid to add them.

you could
a) learn about how to hack facebook (which won't be easy and will be illegal..)
or
b) just add them

btw: do you know the difference between friends and facebook friends??
and (in my experience) all girls who know you will confirm you...

Just suck it up an add them.
Unless the girl is some lunatic who gets livid when anyone sends her a invite the worst that could happen is that she will not add you.
