Twitter help please....?

So earlier on I got a message from someone saying something like, so somepeiple have been saying nasty things about you, you should have a look. Then I've just gone onto twitter again, and it's saying I've sent that same message to about 20 people.
Then there was a message saying I should change my password as I might of been hacked.

All this is through direct message.

As anyone else had this happen?
What should I do?

Oh, I got the same thing yesterday!
My friends sent me those messages and I tried clicking on the link but I decided to just close the website cuz what if it's a virus and all. So, I think you should change your password and maybe change your email/username just incase, you might get hack.
