On facebook is there a way?

to minimise what people see before you add them, like give them minimal excess to your profile?!.

there is a way but you would have to click on your profile settings for example go to ur photos and click on an album then click edit....and you can select wether or not you want that album to be public or if you want only facebook friends to see it or you can select "only me".....which means only you can see it or you can click on customize and make a list of which facebook friends can see that photo album.

Not Possible The Only Thing that they may see before they respond is your Updates From your News Feed and That you Do Not have any control over while The Friend Request is Pending

You used to be able to do that, put them on limited profile but I don't think you can anymore.
