Does he like me or is he just a big flirt?

So i just started freshman year this year and i met this sophomore in my biology class. I didn't really know him at first but I've seen him around because he went to my middle school. On the first day of school, we sat in random spots and he was sitting behind me and he kept staring at me, I just kind of ignored it. Then a few days later he tried to make conversation with me and i responded back but I didn't say much because I thought he was a little weird. Weeks go by and we talk more ad more each day. I always catch him staring at me in class. and if I do see him staring at me he wouldn't look away, he would just keep staring. He always tries to mouth words to me from like across the room. So the other day after lunch, I was walking back to class and he was walking to the direction towards me and then he held out his hands and grabbed both of my hands and then he turns to his friend and says " Hey Christian this is my new girlfriend!" And then he holds my hand like how couples do and then i said to him that i needed to get to class and I let go but then he grabbed my hand again. I was just standing there all awkwardly. so I let go again and quickly went to class. A few days after that he chatted me on Facebook and called me by my foreign name and so i was like "AHH! don't call me that!" and then literally 10 second later his status was "Don't be offended babe, by what i say" (I'm not sure if the status was about me or not) I told him i needed to get off and shower and he still tried to talk to me!
I'm really confused if he likes me or if he's just a really big flirt because he has a reputation of being that. My friends are telling me to stay away from him and they're telling to not get involved with him which is hard because I kind of like him.
