What is up with the facebook apps?

i'm so sick of some of the facebook applications that tell you abt your profile visitors...my friend had used one of them and it showed in his status and then that link was put upasmy status...i didnt even add the application!
whats up with that..? :/

dont worry..the same thing happened to me a few days back..those apps are freaking stupid and they just want to promote themselves in every way..it was embarrassing cos i didnt even know that it was put as my status...
