Can anyone help me with these YouTube channel queries?

So i have a YouTube channel,one video up.Ofcourse more coming.
But i think that it's too standard.
I've got your typical youtube backround pictures.Renamed the header.Got playists.
Neat but nothing "special".

-I've already started fan pages [Twitter and Facebook].I want to know,how do i go about adding a cool custom banner on my channel,with links to my fan pages and anything else for that matter?

-Or do i NEED to be a YouTube partner?
Speaking of YouTube partner;
How many views/subscribers/videos does it take to be accepted?
How am i payed? ;Through my bank account?, if so, when?, monthly/weekly/every video?
How much? ;How is it calculated?, per view/advertisment-click or displaying ads alongside my videos?
Essentially,what are the criteria when one wants to apply for partership?


So,i really hope that someone can clear this up for me once and for all!
