What u said is right ,facebook does block u from sending requests to people u dont know .BUT to get more instant friend requests , u need to make comments daily that are interesting such that people even like them ,post updates that need people to comment ,share links ,photos from any website or friends and send few friends request that may not lead to blocking of ur account .and lastly make ur timeline interactive and open to everyone
