How do you create the new Facebook groups?

I'm talking about the ones that will show the different groups on your friends list on your profile page. I want to separate my family in one group away from my friends/colleagues/childhood friends/classmates. If I separate my family into one group, can I hide certain posts from them and things like my relationship status?

Account> edit friends> on the top left it should say create list and there you go

Well, I'm not really getting what you mean but this might help...

On the left side of the new feed page there's create group click on that and invite members you want e.g. your friends... just change the privacy setting so you can put status updates you want your friends but not your family see in that group.

Or if it's just for chat... go to friends list an you can make a new 'list' so that only certain people you select in your list can see you're online and others will see you as offline.

On your profile page there should be a list of friends and it gives you the options of separating them into family, friends, etc. After you've made your new lists go to your security options under account and you can set up who can see whats on your status. Mine is set to 'no-one' I like my privacy but there are several options - 'friends, friends of friends, everyone' (which means any one on the whole internet not just Facebook). Its easy to do if you follow the instructions on each section.
