How do I convince my mom to let me get a Facebook?

You could do what I did, I gave my parents ALL facebook info.. and every once in a while they log on to MY facebook account, and they said if they see any problems they will delete my page. Try that..

I will say that I got one when I was 12- my mom was going to say that I could get one at 15! I well tell you that, Facebook, despite how "safe" is seems, can be quite dangerous. If you hear about girls commiting suicide from being bullied, it's 90% from Facebook- so if you want to get a Facebook (and this happens usually in the young teen years), you are putting yourself out there.
I made a commitment with my mom to promise that I ONLY become friends with people that I have talked to before, or that are close friends. I think saying this put my mom at ease because she too wasn't going to let me get a Facebook due to the chance of getting bullied. Also, Facebook does have some security protection.. For people who want to check out your profile who are not friends with you, they can't look at any pictures, wall posts, ANYTHING. Just give her a heads up on that. Another important thing to tell her is that when you sign up, the e-mail that you need to provide can be hers. This means, that literally all wall-posts made by you, or any of your activity will be sent to your e-mail. So she can check out literally all of your activity. Just know that Facebook is a huge responsibility- let your mom know that. This can become a test to show really that you can be smart on Facebook. You have to tell her that you understand what she's going through but you feel that you should be able to be a part of what is going on with ur friends and family more than instagram offers. You need to show her that you're responsible enough to take control of what happens on Facebook. You need to tell her that you respect her descision 100% but you hate being the oddball out between all your friends and you want more social things going on for you to be kept up to date with. Tell her that you respect her and her decision and that you hope she will consider what you have offered hope this helps
