What are my chances of getting joint legal custody without a lawyer?
I want to file for legal joint custody of my 1 year old daughter. When the mother first took me to court I was made out to be evil. I had to take parenting classes, random drug tests and supervised visits. I did all that with flying colors. Now I want more time as I only get her 3 times a month for 5 hours. How can I proceed?

Ask for a modification. An order is already in place.

Show the judge how well you're doing. If nothing else, ask for supervised visits for starters. At least you'll see her.

YOU NEED A LAWYER!! My husband has been going through this same thing with his ex-wife and there are so many courtroom rules that have to be followed to the T including how and when you file certain motions, pleadings and how you act in court. There is a reason Lawyers go to school for 8 + years. If you do something wrong you could end up with LESS time and paying MORE child support.

Unfortunately, you will need an attorney, but being prepared cuts down on costs.
