And will they take it down?

I broke up with his b/c he is a lousy drunk who made a pass at my friend (who turned him down) right in front of me. He's mad & is writing all sorts of mean, nasty things about me and making incredibly racist comments & saying things about my 15-year-old sister.

Can I shut the creep down? If so, how?

Facebook won't do anything. Threaten to call a lawyer and sue him for slander. That might shut him up.

Definitely report him to facebook, but it probably won't do much good. Threaten with legal action and if you sound convincing, that should scare him a little and get him to remove the offensive posts.

If they say something bad enough, you can show it to the cops and maybe that can be harassment.
Once, I stopped being friends with a group of people because I found out they were really big drinkers and druggies and just not my crowd. Well they start prank calling me. Finally, the idiots left a voice mail and I got tired of their immaturity and called the cops. Everything they said was offensive, rude and lies. But the thing that made it illegal was they called me a Jew. I'm not a jew, but evidently making racial slurs like that is illegal. So I could have put the just-turned 18-year-old who didn't bother disguising his voice, in jail for a few months for it. But his parents were crying so hard when they heard the voicemail and apologized so much, I felt bad and didn't press charges since I know the two girls put him up to it. But I wish I would have sent him to jail, because they didn't stop after that and it took them a while until they did stop. And they never learned their lesson.

So if they are saying things like that, I would call the local police department and ask them if they can step in.

Then send the creep's butt to jail and laugh all the way home Smile
Those kind of people will NEVER stop and they need to be taught a lesson. If you CAN take legal action, DO IT! Don't make the mistake I did, it doesn't matter how much his parents cry and tell you they are sorry. Send his @ss for the worst punnishment he can get.

Good luck. Sorry that this is happening to you. But it's good you found out who he was before being too serious with him.
