I tried protecting my tweets on twitter and my previously posted and unprotected pictures won't show up- 404?

I decided to protect my tweets, but the pictures I posted when my account was unprotected won't show up. It pops up a box and says "404- media not available." I don't know how to change this, but is there a way to keep my twitter protected but also show these old pictures??

tweets that have been published previous to making your account private must show up.

I guess that twitter applies the "protection" to all your photos as a security measure.

There's nothing you can do or change since there's no option for setting privacy on pictures, just on tweets.
