Why do people have so many friends on facebook?
Do you think the people that have like 500 or more friends on facebook really know them and are friends with them for real? Or are they just adding random people that maybe they've heard of before but never have talked to just to seem cool? Because I only have like 50 friends and honestly, I don't know of anyone else I could add.

Yeah I have 100 and 60-something, and I don't get it either. They add people, as you said, randomly to seem cool, it's mainly guys. Also, people add others that they know or who they have seen at a shopping centre once, but aren't really close with. I guess it just comes down to how many places you go and who you see. Once I typed in a random name in search and they had over 5,000 friends.

A facebook friend is not the same as a real friend. Some people send friend request to friends of friends of friends ... What is the point. Do not feel you are getting left behind just because you do not have a million facebook friends. A good rule of thumb is you should at least know who the person is from real life.

I wont blame them for doing so because the day they sign up in Facebook the race is on.if they fall behind they will be facing extreme social pressure from their peers.
