How long does it take to switch custody?
OK, i am 16 turning 17 later this year. I want to get away from my mother and my dad n i want him to get custody, he just got an attorney. How long would it take to get it all switched. Because school is starting soon and i need to get enrolled.

If your mother is not agreeable, up to a year. If she is, he doesn't need an attorney, just a mediator.

There is no time limit. Depending on how cooperative the two of them are with each other, it won't need to go to court, just a mediation to make things finalized. Our custody case was 13 months long. But, the two couldn't agree to anything and it ended up going to court. There would have to be some very resonable cause as to why the court would change the custody from what it is now. Good luck!
