How do I get facebook to notify me of new messages again?

I used to always have my facebook account set up to send me a notification e-mail for every time that I got a new message on there. This always worked, until recently. Now I even tried to switch to a new e-mail address, yet I don't get notification e-mails for new messages. How do I fix this for me to start getting notification e-mails for each time a new message is received?

click on the notification icon on the top left, then on the bottom click "See All Notifications" then click "Notification Settings" on the top right, uncheck the "Email Frequency" box on the top right, and then just edit what kind of notification will be sent to your email on the bottom, like click the mails on the right side, or edit.
