How do I send a message attached to a friend request on Facebook?

I remember, my friend's brother sent me a friend request on Facebook, but when I clicked on the little 'new friend request notification' symbol on the blue bar at the top, he had typed a little message/ description/ explanation of why he was trying to add me. It wasn't a regular message, it was just a small section of typing that appeared underneath his name.

Does anyone know how to do that? If so, please explain how to.

When you click on "add as friend" and the box pops up theres a thing at the bottom left corner that says "add personal message" click it add the message and your done!! hope this helped!!

When you click add as friend, you will see in the bottom left corner add a personal message..... Just click that and your all set!
