How do you deal with people you just met asking you if you're on facebook or myspace?
Occasionally I'll meet a guy and within the first 5 minutes or talking to him he'll want to friend me on facebook or myspace. I'm not one of those people who use these websites to collect "connetions" and what I post is really just for close friends and family.
How do I tell them politely that I don't well them know enough to give that information out? Ads |

Just lie and say you never use it

Just say that you rarely go on facebook and it'd be pointless. To defuse the situation a little, you could offer them another method of contact (number/msn etc).

Just say you don't have it.
If they already know you do, just say you never login so it's pointless them adding you. |

Although there are a small minority of people who keep their Facebook/MySpace solely for family and friends, the term "social networking" rather does imply meeting new friends and interacting with them. Therefore a person asking you if you're on Facebook/MySpace is not at all inappropriate.
I met my wife on MySpace more than two years ago. If I was the "private" type of person, declining the opportunity to accept/make "random" requests, we would never have met and gotten together |

THAT IS WHAT YOU TELL THEM.
"I'm not one of those people who use these websites to collect "connections" and what I post is really just for close friends and family." |
