How to be safe at home alone?
Soon, my mumand brother are going on holiday and i will be left at home with my dad. The problem is that my dad works at night and i am absoloutly terrified when i am home alone at night. I get so nervous and i keep thinking that there's a ghost in my house or someone will break in and kill me!
Can anyone share any tips or advice when being home alone?
Thank you very much!

I'm 37 and I still feel that way when home alone sometimes! I used to sleep with my bedside light on well into my 20s. What I suggest is sleeping with a small light on and pushing something up against your bedroom door at night. I know the fear is irrational (because ghosts don't exist), but it made me feel better!

Can you get a dog or cat to sleep on your bed with you? Even a cat will alert you that something is wrong because their hearing is so much better than ours. Otherwise I would suggest going to a friend's place to sleep, get your Dad to pick you up in the mornings. You are safer in your home than getting in a car, but it doesn't feel like it, that's all.

leave lights on. a burgular will more likely break into a dark house than one where they suspect someone may be awake.

Keep a couple of lights on. If it makes you feel better though, close the curtains/blinds a bit. Put the tv/radio on - if you're still awake late at night, just turn the volume down incase you wake up your neighbours or something. (And don't like, watch a horror or a thriller, watch a comedy or some crazy flick chick or something).

Try and keep yourself occupied and don't dwell on the fact that you're home alone. For example, you could maybe go on Facebook or Yahoo! Answers or just play some game.

If you feel kind of paranoid about murderers or anything, carry something you can hit people with around with you. That's what I sometimes do. Tongue I have this small bat type thing, haha.

Hm, what else.. If you don't like moving around the house at night, you could always stick to the one room. Before your dad leaves for work, you could take some food/drink from the kitchen and just sit in your room or living room or wherever you wanna be.

Just really remember that the chances of somebody breaking in to kill you are pretty slim. Just make sure the doors are locked and there's no windows wide open or anything.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile
I'm home alone occasionally because my mum works nights sometimes too.

-Lights on
-Make noises when you feel something or hear something weird
-Cat or a dog for senses (I prefer dog cause cats are believed to be witches pet(past)
-Get anything you need before your dad leaves the house so your just in your room
